Tourist Hotel

Tourist Hotel is architecturally in a "dialogue" with the Hotel Excelsior just on the opposite side.

What I can see

Tourist Hotel is a listed building and operates as a hotel to this day. It does not exactly follow the architectural trend of its time, but revived eclecticism, in an attempt to harmonize with the previous image of the city. The corner has been designed according to the Cerda plan of Barcelona and a third facade has been created, on which the central axis is emphasized. The ground floor housed shops.

What I can't see

The hotels of the interwar period contributed significantly to the fight against unemployment and to the economic recovery of the city, after the fire of 1917. Tourist Hotel attracted wealthy customers and was designed by Joseph Pleyber and Eli Hassid-Fernades. The use of reinforced concrete allowed the development of more amenities (e.g. central heating, elevator) and gave the opportunity for the rational use of spaces. In its interior, the plaster decorations on the ceilings are still preserved.
