What I can see
The wetland of Angelochori occupies an area of 357 acres and extends around a circular coastal lagoon of 250 acres. It includes a salt pan for salt production, salt marshes and a marine zone, while there are cultivations in the broader area.
What I can't see
It is an important wetland for migratory and hibernated water birds. However, the greatest danger it faces is hunting. In the southeast of the lagoon, towards Nea Michaniona, lies ancient Aenea, a settlement that flourished during the Archaic period, although findings indicate it existed as early as the early Iron Age, until the 3rd century BC.
