What I can see
The ceramic-roofed tomb of the Hellenistic period is located on a main street of the modern city. It has a Doric facade with an undecorated pediment and is not open to the public. It was discovered on the plot of the villa of the Turkish general Hasan Tahsin Pasha, who surrendered Thessaloniki to the Greeks in 1912.
What I can't see
In ancient times, tombs were developed outside the city walls and usually along major roads. The tombs of this era were very rich in grave goods, which were luxurious objects from all over the eastern Mediterranean. This tomb had already been looted since ancient times and the findings were limited. We cannot know who was or were buried here, but it was a wealthy citizen or citizens. Inside, there is a bed with painted decoration. A similar bed is among the displays of the Louvre Museum, which probably comes from this tomb.
